7th RIMA Summer Academy
From July 20 to 24, the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration (RIMA) held its 7th Summer Academy for emerging professionals in the field of arbitration.
Over the course of five days, 22 participants immersed themselves in the world of arbitration - from the relationship between arbitration and other ADR mechanisms to the fundamentals of resolving investment disputes.
As is customary, the Summer Academy programme included lectures on key aspects of international arbitration: the arbitration agreement, the appointment of the arbitral tribunal, the stages of arbitration proceedings, evidence, interim measures, and recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards. Special attention was given to the specific features of arbitration in foreign countries - China, Singapore, the UAE, and England.
Practical workshops became an important part of the Summer Academy, during which participants took on the roles of practicing lawyers - mediators and representatives of the parties in mock disputes. The workshops helped participants reinforce the theoretical knowledge they had gained and hone their skills in legal argumentation and public speaking. The Academy also hosted a joint workshop organized by RIMA and Resolut, dedicated to the basics of drafting procedural documents.
The Summer Academy traditionally concluded with an evening reception, where participants shared their impressions with one another and interacted with the speakers in an informal setting.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to all the Academy’s lecturers for their professionalism, high level of expertise, and sincere dedication, and we also thank our partners - EPAM, NSP, and Alumni Partners - for their contributions to the Academy.
We hope that the 7th Summer Academy served as not only an important milestone in the participants’ professional journeys, but also a platform for them to meet like-minded individuals and future colleagues.
We look forward to seeing you at the 2027 Summer Academy!
