Yury Babichev focuses on international arbitrations and cross-border litigations. He is experienced in commercial and investment arbitrations, fraud and conspiracy claims, derivative litigations, shareholder disputes, contentious M&A transactions, large-scale debt recovery and restructurings, distressed asset sales and other special situations involving multiple jurisdictions.

Yury has advised clients on litigations in various jurisdictions, including England, the USA, the BVI, Bermuda, Cyprus, Ireland, Malta, Turkey, Switzerland, France and The Netherlands, and arbitral proceedings seated in major arbitration centres, such as London, Paris, Stockholm, Moscow, Hong Kong and The Hague, under multiple arbitration rules.

Yury’s clients include major Russian and foreign companies across a broad spectrum of industries, including energy, oil&gas, machine building, metals, banks, IT and FinTech. Yury is recommended for International Arbitration by the major international legal directory The Legal 500 and has been ranked among top arbitration practitioners in Russia by The Russian Arbitration Association (RAA 40) for four years running.

Yuri also acts as an arbitrator in various disputes and is a member of the Board of the Russian Arbitration Center at the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration.

Prior to founding ALUMNI Partners, Yury was a partner and formerly a counsel at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (Russia) LLP and head of the international arbitration group at Goltsblat BLP LLP. Prior to this, Yuri worked for ten years at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.

Nikita specializes in the resolution of international investment disputes, commercial arbitration and complex commercial disputes in foreign jurisdictions.

Over the past 10 years Nikita has taken part in a number of major projects related to protecting the interests of private investors in disputes with European and Central Asian states. Nikita's experience in investment arbitration includes both work in proceedings carried out according to the rules of leading arbitration institutions, and work in disputes considered under the ICSID Convention mechanism.

Along with the resolution of investment disputes Nikita was also involved in a number of commercial arbitrations (including those under the rules of LCIA, ICC, DIS and other institutions) and projects related to the protection of the interests of the parties in the state courts of European, Middle Eastern and Asian states.

In addition to working as a representative of the parties to disputes, Nikita has experience of participating in commercial arbitration as an arbitrator.

Nikita is a graduate of the International Law Faculty of the Russian Academy of Foreign Trade, the master's program of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in international law and the master's program at Bucerius Law School (Hamburg, Germany).

Vasily Kuznetsov has been representing Russian and international clients in major litigation and arbitration proceedings since 2002, including commercial cases on the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards in Russia. Previously, he was a counsel at Clifford Chance, partner at Dechert, partner at Quinn Emanuel, partner and head of the Russian dispute resolution practice at Baker Botts. 

He was a member of the Expert Council of the “Arbitration” Journal and a member of the ICC Arbitration and ADR Commission for Russia. Vasily has also been recognized as a leading expert by Chambers Europe and Legal 500 EMEA.

Sergey Alekhin is a Counsel in Willkie’s Litigation Department in Paris. His practice focuses on international commercial arbitration and investment arbitration, with a particular focus on the post-Soviet region. He has acted in proceedings conducted under the rules of the major arbitration center worldwide (ICC, ICSID, LCIA, etc.), as well as in ad hoc proceedings, including under the UNCITRAL Rules. Prior to joining Willkie in September 2017, Sergey worked for over five years at a Paris-based arbitration boutique.

Aside from counsel work, Sergey accepts arbitrator appointments and has acted as co-arbitrator and sole arbitrator in proceedings administered, inter alia, by the Russian Arbitration Centre (‘RAC’) at the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration and the Arbitration Centre at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (‘RSPP’).

He frequently publishes and speaks on international arbitration and relates issues, including cybersecurity, blockchain technology and e-sports. Sergey is former co-Chairman of the Young Institute of Modern Arbitration (Young IMA, Russia). In 2018, 2019 and 2021, Sergey was listed in the Top-10 Young Arbitration Practitioners by the Russian Arbitration Association’s under 40 division.

Sergey Alekhin

For the past 14 years, Olga has successfully handled cross-border litigation and become a recognized expert in this area. Her competence includes advising companies, individuals and the state in investment and commercial disputes in various industries, including natural resources, energy, construction, telecommunications and others.

Olga participated and coordinated the work of legal teams in more than 50 cases, including arbitrations under the rules of the ICAC at the CCI, RAC, ICC, LCIA, SCC, Swiss Rules, UNCITRAL, as well as proceedings in the UK, Germany, Italy, China (Hong Kong) , Kazakhstan, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Turkey, France and other countries. Most of her cases are complex disputes involving significant sums of money with parallel proceedings in various jurisdictions.

Previously, Olga was an adviser and co-head of the international arbitration group at EPAM Law Firm, and also supervised the defense of Russia in several international investment disputes at the Ministry of Justice.

Olga is a co-founder of the first Guide to Next Generation of Russian Arbitrators.

She graduated from the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov and received a master's degree in international law in Switzerland (MIDS).
