RAC event within the framework of the Dubai Arbitration Week

On November 13, we held the event “Dialogue with Judges: MENA Perspective on Arbitration Support” within the framework of the Dubai Arbitration Week.

The event took place in the format of an open dialogue, during which practicing lawyers and judges from across the MENA region explored the evolving relationship between national courts and arbitration.

Our distinguished speakers shared the features of arbitration across various jurisdictions, highlighting key aspects that arbitrators and representatives should consider. The discussion covered the nuances of setting aside of arbitral awards, the ever-important issues of translation, differences of legal tradition in enforcement proceedings, thorny questions of public policy and sanctions. At the conclusion of the discussion, the speakers shared their views on the necessary measures to facilitate enforcement of arbitral awards in the MENA region.

The speakers of the event were: H.E. Justice Nabil Omran, Vice President at the Court of Cassation, Dubai Courts (UAE); Dr. Moosa Al Azri, Managing Partner at Dr. Moosa AlAzri Lawyers and Legal Consultants, and International Arbitrator, Retired Judge (Oman); Dr. Hamed Merah, Chief Executive Officer at the SCCA (Saudi Arabia); Yury Babichev, Partner at Alumni Partners, RAC Board Member (Russia); Evgeny Rashchevsky, Partner at EPAM Law Offices, RAC Board Member (Russia).

The discussion was moderated by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Founding Partner at Zulficar & Partners Law Firm, RAC Board Member (Egypt).

We express our sincere gratitude to all the speakers and participants for their active involvement and support. Your interest and engagement made this event truly unforgettable!
