VI FDI Online Pre-Moot 2023
On 20 – 22 October 2023, the VI FDI Online Pre-Moot took place. Twenty-four teams from different countries participated in the rounds, including Argentina, China, Colombia, Egypt, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Vietnam, and Greece. Each team acted as Claimant and Respondent in two rounds before experienced arbitrators.
Results
The four best performing teams – Singapore Management University, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Universiti Malaya, and National Autonomous University of Mexico – advanced to the semi-final rounds, which took place on 22 October 2023. The Final Round featured the Universiti Malaya and the Singapore Management University After a heated round, the Final Round arbitrators (Mariana Zhong, Sergey Alekhin and Aniruddha Rajput) announced the Singapore Management University team as the winner of the competition.
Conference
On 20 October 2023, in anticipation of the rounds, an open online discussion "Dotting the I's and Crossing the T's: Regulating Creeping Expropriation" was held. During the discussion, esteemed speakers covered issues that arise from the concept of "creeping expropriation" in investment arbitration.
