RAC Business Breakfast "Arbitration and Courts in the UAE: Two Halves of a Whole? UAE Courts Assistance in Support of Arbitration"

On May 14, we had the pleasure of hosting a Business Breakfast titled "Arbitration and Courts in the UAE: Two Halves of a Whole? UAE Courts Assistance in Support of Arbitration."

The seminar was organized to provide a platform for fostering dialogue between the esteemed judges of the UAE and the DIFC courts and the legal practitioners in the jurisdiction. During the session, speakers focused on the relationship between arbitration and court systems, the assistance provided by the courts to arbitration, and the UAE's position as a seat of arbitration. Attendees had an exclusive opportunity to ask the judges practical questions and engage in insightful conversation.

The session was moderated by Faris Nasrallah, senior arbitration counsel at Crescent Petroleum, and Valeria Butyrina, Deputy CEO of the RAC, provided the opening remarks.

We sincerely thank all the speakers of the event: Justice Shamlan Al Sawalehi (Court of Appeal Judge and Judge in Charge of the Arbitration Division, DIFC Courts); Justice Ahmed Abo Zeid (Judge at the Ras AL Khaimah Court of Cassation); Justice Hassan AI-Shazly Mohamed Ahmed (Judge in Charge for Arbitration of Dubai Court of Appeal; Julia Zagonek (Partner at White and Case) and Mohamed Gaber Abdelsabour (Senior Counsel at Al Tamimi).

We would also like to express our gratitude to the venue, The DIFC Academy, for their assistance in organizing the event.
