Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot (FDI) is a student moot court competition in investment arbitration, comprising more than 50 teams from the universities all around the world.

The teams argue the case based on the mock dispute between a foreign investor and a host state that addresses most topical issues of jurisdiction and merits (standards of protection of foreign investors in investment treaties). There are usually 5 legal issues to analyze.

The FDI Moot Court involves 2 stages:

1st stage – submission of written memoranda (arguments both for claimant and respondent).

2nd stage – oral rounds (presentation of arguments before the arbitral tribunal).
