Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot (FDI) is a student moot court competition in investment arbitration, comprising more than 100 teams from the universities all around the world.
The teams argue the case based on the mock dispute between a foreign investor and a host state that addresses most topical issues of jurisdiction and merits (standards of protection of foreign investors in investment treaties). The FDI Moot Court involves 2 stages:
1st stage – submission of written memoranda (arguments both for claimant and respondent).
2nd stage – oral rounds (presentation of arguments before the arbitral tribunal).
In 2017, Arbitration Center at Institute of Modern Arbitration, in cooperation with Saint Petersburg State University and Saint Petersburg University Moot Court Society, holds the first Russian FDI pre-moot. The event on Facebook.
On 29 September 2017, the participants are invited to attend mini-conference on investment arbitration, and on 30 September 2017 – oral rounds of the moot court.
